Dr. Raiyan Abdul Baten
I am looking to recruit several Ph.D. students to start in Fall 2024 in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of South Florida. The positions will have full tuition and stipend support.
Broadly, the projects will focus on building technology that
- helps people develop socio-cognitive soft skills (e.g., storytelling, negotiation) and
- elevates the collective performances of teams in terms of creativity, problem-solving, and intelligence. Additionally, we will develop interventions to counter critical elements of concern in online social media, such as belief rigidity and polarization, by bringing cognitive, social, psychological, computer, and network sciences together.
The research will draw on qualitative and quantitative methods from computational social science, network science, machine/deep learning (particularly NLP), human-computer interaction, and affective computing. Please visit https://www.raiyan-ab.com for more information.
Qualifications
- The applicants need to have a background in Computer Science or a relevant field such as Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Statistics. A GRE score is required by the department.
