Dr. Yinyin Ye

The Ye group (Environmental Biomolecular Laboratory) at the University at Buffalo (UB) is seeking candidates for a Ph.D. position with a start date of September 2024 or January 2025. This position follows the UB PhD Excellence Initiative, providing tuition and a competitive stipend. The Ye group focuses on leveraging high-throughput proteomic and genomic techniques to understand pathogen persistence, inactivation, and stress responses in natural and engineered systems. The outcomes of the research provide valuable knowledge to improve engineering responses to future pandemics and climate change. A successful candidate will have opportunities to work with multidisciplinary research groups at UB, conduct internships at national laboratories, mentor high school and undergraduate students, attend domestic and international conferences, and participate in community engagement and outreach activities.

Applicants should have a B.S. or M.S. degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, Biochemistry, or related field. Candidates with strong communication skills, highly self-motivated and collaborative, and previous wet-lab experience are encouraged to apply.

About the group

Dr. Yinyin Ye is currently an Assistant Professor of Environmental Engineering in the Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering at the University at Buffalo. Before joining UB, Dr. Ye completed her post-doctoral training in proteomics at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. She received her Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Environmental Engineering from the University of Michigan, and her B.S. degree from Tongji University.
