PhD-level Graduate Research Assistant Positions Are Currently Available at the University of Missouri (Starting Spring/Fall 2025)

Mutiple RA positions are available at the Cyber-Physical Power and Energy Systems (CPPES) lab in the department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Missouri (Columbia). The students are expected to study on one or more of the following areas/tracks:

Track 1: Cybersecurity: Malware Security, Zero-Trust Security, Blockchain, Security Assessment (including Ethical Hacking); 

Track 2: AI and Qauntum Intelligence: Thrustworthy and Efficient AI, Quantum AI, Optimization, and Simulation, and Generative AI; 

Track 3:  Cyber-Informed Power Electronics: Smart inverter, Controller security, Hardware security, and Diagnosis; and 

Track 4: Grid Innovation: Smart Grid Device Security, Grid Network and Control Platform Innovation, and Security and Resilience Managment System.   

Research Opportunities for Prospective Graduate Students

Graduate students can participate in active research projects and/or work for their thesis. The following topics are currently available:

  • Advancing Secrity and Performance of Hyperledger-Based Blockchain
  • Developing a New Blockchain Algorithm for IoT devices
  • Digital Tiwn and Platform using Bigdata Tools 
  • Advancing AI for Power and Energy Systems
  • Lightweingt Post Quantum Cryptography

  • Hardware Hardening for Power Electronics Devices or Smart Grid Devices
