The BioEngineering for Translational Applications Laboratory (BETA Lab: http://www.beta-lab.org/) within the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Akron has openings for one M.Sc. and two Ph.D. students. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to contribute to innovative and impactful research in the fields of Cardiovascular Treatment, Biofabrication, Bioprinting, and Tissue Engineering. The start date for these positions is expected to be in Fall 2024 or Spring 2025.
Responsibilities
Conduct independent research in the area of Biomedical Engineering.
Collaborate with other researchers on a variety of projects within the BETA Lab.
Present research findings through publication in scientific journals and presentations at conferences.
Participate in grant writing and assist with the supervision of undergraduate research assistants.
Adhere to the Ph.D. program requirements set by the Department of Biomedical Engineering and meet established deadlines.
Qualifications
M.Sc. or B.Sc. degree in Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or Chemical Engineering.
Hands-on experience in cell culture and in vitro assay procedures.
Background in tissue engineering, bioprinting, 3D printing, biomaterials, rheology, and numerical simulation (asset).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
