Position Description:

The Goff Environmental Microbiology Lab at the State University of New York (SUNY), College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF), is recruiting a PhD student for Fall 2025. The student will pursue a PhD in Environmental and Forest Chemistry with a concentration in Biochemistry, focusing on research in environmental microbiology and related fields.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (to be completed by Spring 2025) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biology, Microbiology, Geochemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • At least two semesters of independent research experience.
  • Knowledge of environmental microbiology, geomicrobiology, and/or microbial ecology.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biology, Microbiology, Geochemistry, or Environmental Science.
  • Publications or conference presentations in relevant areas.
  • Significant bioinformatics experience.
