Assistantship, PhD | Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center (FLREC) | University of Florida | Gainesville, Florida, USA | Spring 2025

A research assistantship is available for a Ph.D. student at the University of Florida, Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center in Davie, Florida in spring 2025. Part of the research will involve molecular identification of nematodes, thus experience performing standard molecular biology techniques is desirable. The research will also include developing cultural (soil amendments) and biological (nematode parasitic fungi/bacteria) control approaches for nematode management in tropical fruits in South Florida. Demonstrated experience and knowledge in applied/basic research techniques and a strong interest in nematology are essential. It is expected that the applicant will be organized and has excellent interpersonal communication skills. The student will be expected to work under laboratory, greenhouse, and field conditions.
