Position Description:
Dr. Othman Oudghiri-Idrissi’s research group in the Fariborz Maseeh Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin invites applications for two funded Ph.D. positions starting Fall 2025. These positions will explore topics including mechanical metamaterials, wave mechanics, homogenization, nondestructive evaluation, inverse problems, and in-space manufacturing and assembly. Research in the lab integrates theoretical, computational, and experimental approaches to address challenges in waves in complex media, nondestructive testing of civil and nuclear structures, and mechanical metamaterials for terrestrial and space infrastructure.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related fields.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong background in applied mathematics, solid mechanics, and computer programming.
- Self-driven personality with excellent oral and written communication skills.

Project Details:
