Position Description
Two fully funded PhD positions are available at Michigan State University’s AIR Labs (Athletic Injury and Rehabilitation) on a federally funded, interdisciplinary project to investigate why some individuals develop early arthritis after knee surgery while others fully recover and return to high activity levels.
Research Topics/Area
- Psychological, hormonal, and structural risk factors
- Biomechanics and movement analysis with load carriage
- Physical activity and return-to-sport outcomes
- Patient experiences and recovery challenges
Project Details
- Federally funded, interdisciplinary collaboration between Michigan State University and La Trobe University (Australia).
- Advanced ultrasound imaging of the knee.
- Gait analysis under loaded and unloaded conditions.
- Psychological, hormonal, and physical-activity assessments.
- Strong mentorship and interdisciplinary training.
