Position Description
Two fully funded PhD positions are available at Michigan State University’s AIR Labs (Athletic Injury and Rehabilitation) on a federally funded, interdisciplinary project to investigate why some individuals develop early arthritis after knee surgery while others fully recover and return to high activity levels.

Research Topics/Area

  • Psychological, hormonal, and structural risk factors
  • Biomechanics and movement analysis with load carriage
  • Physical activity and return-to-sport outcomes
  • Patient experiences and recovery challenges

Project Details

  • Federally funded, interdisciplinary collaboration between Michigan State University and La Trobe University (Australia).
  • Advanced ultrasound imaging of the knee.
  • Gait analysis under loaded and unloaded conditions.
  • Psychological, hormonal, and physical-activity assessments.
  • Strong mentorship and interdisciplinary training.
