Dr. Bezawit Getachew
Our research group is currently looking for one graduate student to join us in Fall 2024. Ideal candidates will have a bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with some research experience. Interested students should fill out this google form and submit their CV and a writing sample (lab report or paper for a class). Entries will be evaluated on a rolling basis and students are encouraged to submit their materials as soon as possible.

About PI
Dr. Getachew is an Assistant Professor in Environmental Engineering at Rice University. She completed her Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Chemical and Environmental Engineering at Yale University, where she worked on making the first self-healing water filtration membranes. She also holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering (ABET) from Yale. Prior to joining Rice University, Dr. Getachew spent two years as a Postdoctoral Associate at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Getachew was born and raised in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia before coming to the US to pursue her undergraduate education.
