Our lab at the University of Utah is actively looking for Ph.D. students enrolling in the Spring or Fall of 2024. Projects include (i) light-based 3D printing of functional materials and (ii) recyclable-by-design fiber-reinforced composite materials.
About the job
The Wang research group at the University of Utah, Materials Science and Engineering is developing sustainable polymer materials from renewable feedstocks, recyclable-by-design polymers, and upcycle today’s plastics wastes. By changing how we use polymer materials, we are pushing a sustainable chemical industry for a better world.
We are looking for motivated Ph.D. students to take on these great challenges of our time. Students will have opportunities to
- Master experimental expertise in polymer synthesis, characterization, and structure-property relationship.
- Become a vivid researcher in material and polymer research community
- Individually contribute to cutting-edge research, and collaborate with internal and external teams
- Fluent in delivering research talks and writing scientific articles
- Contribute to broader communities by activities promoting diversity and inclusion in science and technology.
Qualifications
- BS degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or relevant majors
- Research experience in wet-lab chemistry is strongly recommended.
- Synthetic organic/polymer chemistry background is preferred.
